Fairfield

Fairfield is the most easterly of the five neighbourhoods in Kensington. The area has benefited from an extensive programme of environmental improvements, both to residential properties and to public areas with pavement, street lighting and alleyway improvements and the introduction of traffic calming measures.
This has had a very positive impact on the selling price of terraced homes in the area. New housing has also been created in Fairfield.  Site clearance at Lomond Road and Grampian Road paved the way for a major new Bellway housing development of up to 90 new homes.

Elsewhere in Fairfield the area’s retail facilities have been upgraded thanks to Kensington Regeneration-funded improvements to shop frontages on Edge Lane and the creation of new parking bays.

Important local facilities in Fairfield include Phoenix Primary School, Fairfield Police Club and St Sebastian’s community garden.  The St Sebastian’s project, which involved volunteers transforming an area of waste ground into a garden for the whole community to use, was a finalist in a prestigious national award scheme organised by Regeneration and Renewal magazine.
